Now *That's* Entertainment

As a mom, I have frequently found myself with a ton of work to do and not being able to get a lick of it done because I'm playing cars with my son. And the ironic thing is that even though there's no place I'd rather be than playing with my kid, I'm BORED OUT OF MY MIND. Moms all come up with different coping strategies: some turn to the telephone, some to the television (hellooo Oprah), some to the computer (I wish I could do this one, but if I am on the computer when the kid is awake, we inevitably end up on sites like this one for hours at a time). I turn to my camera. Unfortunately for my victims. I thought I would post some of my efforts for your entertainment and for my own glorification (after all, it's my blog, and I can do what I want.)

I made the cape for the boy, but he didn't want to wear it. He's not into dress-up. So guess who doesn't get a choice?
Look! I finally found a use for my Young Woman Medallion! This is what I picture every time a person calls their child a "little treasure." A kid shut up in a chest.
No, it wasn't Halloween. I was just bored.
This is me being bored again, and having some hair gel in my hands when the kid crawled by.
Hair gel again, same day.
Jasper has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In this case, I had just taken a ribbon off a box and was thinking it was a shame to throw it away, but I didn't have any use for it. Or did I?
Jasper puts the boy on time out.
The kid seeing what a pole tastes like.
He hates it when I do this to his hair.
And the last two I threw in just because I like them:
My all-time favorite of Jasper.
My son's favorite thing to do at the park.
Wow, was this stupid to try and post. If the pictures and text are screwed up in your browser, I'm really sorry, but I'm done messing with this thing. That'll teach my to try and post a bunch of pictures at once!

By the way--all you sister bloggers out there--if you're wondering why I haven't been to your blog today/yesterday/etc., HOW DO YOU DO THIS EVERY DAY? No idea how you fit it in your schedule. I'll come see you soon, and thanks for coming.

Finally found a use for the YW medallion!!!1 Ha!!!!!!!!! That was one of the funniest things ever!!!
Thank you for that.
As for keeping up with the bigtime bloggers, I've thought many, many times about changing my blog name to something that involves the word 'mediocrity'--as in mediocre stories and writing, mediocrity in terms of volume and witty replies to comments, and way below average in terms of aesthetics.

Nice swing shot! You're a very good photographer. A much healthier sanity-preserving activity than self-diagnosing with Dr. Phil.

So...did you already own all those props (white pedestal, treasure chest, yards and yards of blue velvet, leopard print fur) or did you collect them just for your home Glamour Shots? Has Jasper learned to away when sees the cape and/or the camera?

My poor children are going to be tortured tomorrow.

And they'll have no idea that it's all -your- fault. =P Hilarious, my dear. That's entertainment, indeed.

Pole licking is expected to completely take over the field of pole dancing by 2010. Good to know that your boy is ahead of the curve at such a tender age!

I HEART Jasper and Jake. I could see you taking picture torture all the way to the bank. That guy and his goofy dress up Weimaraner dogs did it, and so could you, Wynne!

Oh, and to answer your query........In the beginning, I only had about 5 blogs that I read. Easy enough. Now, though, I read a bunch and had to organize a blogging pecking order wherein some are daily MUST READS either because they're good or they belong to frequent commenters. Then there are my occasional reads. And then at the bottom is the obligatory reciprocal comment blogs.

There's a method to the blogging madness!

I fully expect that you will follow my counsel and place me at the tippy top of your MUST READ list.

Once again, inspiring...in a rather unconventional way. :) Just what I love about you! Truly, Jasper is a paient kitty. I love the one of him with the bow around his neck. W/ his head tilted it's almost as if he's saying, "Oh, alright...just because I DO look pretty smashing in it...Humans."

I also really loved Jake Grimley. He needs the nerd glasses, though.

Re: keeping up in the blogging world...I've recently come up against the very same dilemma. Thanks for the "pecking order" comment, EWBL! I'll try to employ that and see how it goes. I didn't really expect to get so involved in blogging! Famous last words?

Anyway...time to get out and use my camera more. Although my subjects will likely be either roommates or total strangers since I have neither cat nor kid.

Oh and if I didn't make it clear in my last comment, GREAT pictures! My favorite is of Jake swinging! I feel like I'm swinging w/ him!

wynne - First of all, I love the pictures!! Very fun! Second, how do I visit all the blogs? Well, I start by neglecting my laundry and dishes. Then, I don't pick anything up all day and we never have a hot meal. Finally, my kids watch horrendous amounts of T.V. Okay, maybe not really. I do some blogging in the morning when my two oldest are at school. I turn on the iTunes and Baby Girl jumps on the bed while I blog. Then I do some in the evening when they are in bed. Occassionally, I sneak some in during the day when everyone is playing nicely and I'm waiting for the dryer to stop. :)

I'm a little surprised that you aren't head-to-toe scratch marks. Are you feeding Jasper kitty-Valium?

As for Jake's hair, it is your right- nay, DUTY!- to attack your child with hair gel once in a while.

ARRGHHH! COMMENT OVERLOAD!!!

Truth: the cat is NOT patient, and the boy is defiant. So what is my trick? How do I get any pictures at all?

Bribery .

Thank you, elizabeth, melissa, christina, and Lady Elastic, for the blogging tips. I'm sure I'm going to fail at balancing blog time just as thoroughly as I did trying to "fly" with flylady.

Marie--*sigh* I did own some of the props before picture sessions, but some I bought just so I could take a picture with it. Like the leopard-print cloth, and like this.

christina--here you go. Nerdy glasses, indeed!

Pandy, this one is for you, what with your love of pirates and agreeing with me about the hair gel. (It was supposed to go in the origianl post, but somehow, it got lost in the shuffle.)

Everybody else--thanks for coming, come again, and I'm just grateful you come at all.
-love, w
